Hi

I have read many bits and peices on here and in the Dr Sears Q & A, where it says basically that a bit of extra fat won't take you out of the zone.

I've also read that too much fat can take you out of the zone.

Would anyone what the guideline are on this? Eg. how much extra fat can be added to a meal without taking you out of the zone?

Cheers

Steve.

Hi Steve,

It depends upon the individual. Up to a extra few blocks will probably be fine for most evenyone, though not with ever meal and snack. More than that on a consistent basis could be too much for some people. On the other hand, some peopel need to have a couple extra F blocks just to keep their insulin within Zone range.

How do we know if we need extra fat blocks? I've definitely found myself quite hungry some days.

You'd need extra fat if your body fat levels fall below the ideal range. If you're hungry, you should be able to adjust C to resolve that. If you're hungry, judge the type of hunger at 4 hours and adjust C accordingly.

To get a basic understanding, it's good to read a Zone book in full, rather than to try to piece togehter bits of info out taken out of context.

I have read the Zone book in full, but it can still be confusing. He doesn't go into great detail about what to do if the Zone isn't working. Well, I mean I am losing weight, but I'm not experiencing any of the other positive side effects that people are speaking of. I'm pretty sure that I'm not overdoing it on my carbs either.

Along with eating the Zone Diet are you taking an ultra-refined concentrated fish oil that the IFOS 5 star rating? It will make a big difference. Rereading your Zone book will probably give you further insight. It's a lot to take in with one read through. Also, as I recall, you're fairly new to the Zone diet, so I'd say give it some time.
