Regarding fruit and favorable carbs. I just realized that canteloup, honeydew melon and pineapple are UNfavorable carbs. Yet we have an abundance of them right now at the farmers market for a great price. I keep buying them and using them as part of my carbs in my Zone meals.

How much does it matter that I am using UNfavorable carbs here and there in the form of that fruit? I still am doing all the others pretty by the book.
THANKS

Hi,

The amount of impact that has on you depends upon how sensitive you are to carbs. Whether of not that fruit works well for you would be judged by how you feel (lack of hunger at 4 hours). That said, you'd acheive the best insulin results from eating mostly favorable veggies for C, with only a little fav fruit each day.

Isn't pineapple listed in the 7day menu for breakfast, 1cup with cottage cheese for males, 3/4 cup for female?

Zone Perfect bars are not balanced, is this true? Oh boy, back to the dawing board.

Hi Mark,

Unfavorable carbs are eaten carefully in the Zone, and don't haev to banned altogether. How much a person can tolerate will depend on their individual response.

Zone Perfect bars don't control insulin for most people, but Zone Labs bars control it very well. You can find Zone bars in the products section of this site.
