Does the Zone diet have a favorable effect on pH levels in the body? I have heard that if one wants to maintain an optimal pH level (7.4) it is best if they only eat alkaline foods (i.e. fruits and veggies). What role does protein play in pH levels and would one have better luck restoring their pH levels to optimum with a vegan diet or with the Zone?

Thanks!
Michelle

Going from memory here, but there was a dentist featured on the old Zone Perfect site a few years ago who tested the saliva pH of a number of students at the school his children attended. Those who had "healthy" cereals and orange juice for breakfast had acidic saliva, those with more zone-favorable meals (ie, eggs and fruit) had normal (ie, slightly alkaline) pH.

If anybody else can recall this, please chime in.

Scott.

I would suggest purchasing the PH drops that you add to water. They are tasteless and keep you a the perfect PH level. I also find that they help curb my appetite and give me energy. I use 8 drops in 8oz. of water a couple of times a day.
