Hi,

Is there a "program" that will calculate your meals for you?

Example: If I list my favourite meals a program would give me breakdowns and add ons to make the ZONE???

Just thought there must be a SIMPLER way of doing this without draining my brain!

K

Hi K,
There is! Just follow the guidelines at:
http://www.zoneliving.com/ZoneLiving/QuickStartGuide/tabid/61/Default.aspx
There may be software available; however, it’s probably expensive and confusing. You’ll do fine by just making a few adjustments to your favorite meals.
Consider posting a few recipes here and see if someone will Zone them for you.

Hi, I have been following the plan for a couple of weeks and feel great and I am losing!:) I have 4 books (A Week In..., Mastering..., Top 100 Favorite foods, Anti-Inflammation, and the Zone Perfect video) yet I still have a problem with figuring out my portion sizes. I am getting confused with the Blocks, Points, grams etc. starting to get frustrated. Unless I follow a recipe, I need help! For instance this morning for breakfast I had 2 Boca soy Breakfast Patties (each patty is: 60 calories- 2.5g fat- 5g carb- 2g fiber- and 7g protein) and an orange. Was this a good Zone meal? How do I know how many grams of carbs are in the orange? I really want to stay on this plan but I am so confused by all this reading. Please help. Thanks!

Lisa,

This link should help clear some of the confusion: http://www.drsears.com/foodblockguide.page

Your breakfast is 2 blocks. It is a bit short on fat, and a bit on the heavy side with C (there's a substantial amount of insulin stimulating C in the two Boca burgers). You would have needed at least 6 grams of fat for a two block meal. The breakdown of that meal in blocks is: the boca burgers (2P, 1/2 C, the fat in them is appropriate for the amount assumed to be included, also called "hidden", in the P blocks), the orange (2C), for a total of 2P, 2 1/2 C. You'd need to add monounsaturated fat blocks. To make that into 3 block meal, add 1 more P block (egg whites, cheese, etc), add 1/2 C block (strawbwrries or blueberries), and add 3 monounsaturated F blocks (almonds, macadamia nuts, or olive oil).

You could simplify it even more by following the method of dividing your plate into thirds (as described in the books you have). I find the block method and the plaste method the easiest.
