I work at a hospital and I had lunch the other day in the library. I picked up a copy of JAMA, and I found this study printed in there. More proof that we are on the right track! The study investigated single and combined effects of following a Mediterannean Diet, physical activity, moderate alcohol, and non-smoking in a 70-90 year old population. The results were that following the diet and a healthful lifestyle ws associated with more than a 50% lower rate of mortality (death). I don't know if it is available online, but this was the Sept 22/29, 2004 issue of JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association), vol 292, #12, p1433. Just some "Mediterranean" food for thought...

You know what really irks me? Is seeing all those copycats out there touting their 'diet' as their own discovery (like the Perricone dude). And then the other bunch misrepresenting The Zone by portraying it as a high protein, low carb diet. I have even read articles where the reporter or nutritionist claims to have bought and read the book, and what spews out of their reports is no where in The Zone book. Maybe Dr. Sears ought to start treating them 'scientology' style, sue the #^%@#& out of them! ...<sigh>...I feel better now :) [/color:1ef8a5901c]
