Just a little update.

I started FO 2-1/2 months ago and have had great results on some knee issues and recovery times after work outs. I had a 1 week period that I was out of FO and my symptoms started to return. My recovery times were not as fast either. I did increase to 4 a day and stayed at that quantity.

I've been working out regularly since Jan., 6 full months. I have had good gains in LBM, strength and stamina. I am not going to complain about my results at all. I am looking for a little more but it is not a nutrition issue. I need more intesity in my work outs. A trainer I train with every few weeks recently started doing Crossfit. He worked me over a couple times doing CF technics. I decided to make the plunge into the CF world. I start tonight officially. I have read a lot about it already and I have set some personal goals already based on what I have read. I will have three 1 on 1 sessions before I start doing the group workouts. I will bounce my goals off the coach to see what he thinks and adjust from there.

Just another phase of my ultimate healthy lifestyle goal.

Well I increased my blocks. Thursday I think I ate 19 blocks, Friday, Saturday & Sunday I had 20 blocks. It is a lot of food and I will have to play with my schedule a little but I think I will get use to it. Definetly no 5 block meals for me right now. Way too much food at one sitting for me.

I haven't done crossfit or any other intense training since Thursday am. I did a lot of lower intensity stuff this weekend. Amazingly I was down 3 lbs from my Thursday AM scale reading. I don't get on the scale very often but since I was making some changes I thought I should. My food consumption over the weekend was excellent, I ate very few unfavorable items.

I will be training again tonight. I have to get used to evening workouts and my eating. I had my morning food dialed in very well to go with my workout timing. I will probably take me a week or two to get my schedule down.

Happy Zoning,

Matt

Thanks Matt! It'll be interesting to read about your progress. I'm rying to remember, were you having knee pain in the past?

Yeah Sue, I have had knee issues for a long time. Snap crackle pop was the way I describe it. I called it discomfort but it could be intense pain from time to time.

When I finally started taking the FO I started with 3 capsules. It work so well I decided to try 4 and I think it is the perfect dose for me.

Thanks Matt.

My next qn, are crossfit workouts tailored to a person's specific strengths and weaknesses? I'll be curious to see how that knee holds up to the workouts.

In general no they are not tailored to the individual. They can very easily be scaled to your athletic ability.

The gym I am now attending helps to scale the work out if there are things you can't do. For example there is a lady who had knee surgery 4-5 weeks ago. She is not doing the official workout or even a scaled one. But she is doing some crossfit exercises. There is another site BrandX martial arts that has all the scaled versions of the WOD. They also have subs in case you can't do an exercise or don't have the equipment.

From what I see from their website most of the exercises are not high impact on the joints. It is about building from the core.

My knees have been doing great. I use the moving steps stairmaster regularly. I do a speed interval at level 20(max) for 5 mins. I then do about 15 minutes of various steps. Side steps, back wards, cross overs and a bunch of variations. This weekend down on the beach I was doing some sprinting and also had no issues. A while back my trainer had me start doing some backwards treadmill work. I think that has help a lot. The combination of weight loss, being in the zone, FO and strength training have already done wonders.

Thanks for the additional info. And, "duh me". I just noticed you mentioned your previous knee concerns in your first post in this thread. :)
