I am wondering what is an allowable amount of Coca powder to use occasionally say in a smoothie. I am in the mood for somthing CHOCOLATE and thought I read somewhere that you could add in a tsp or a tablespoon but I forget which. I did a search but couldn't find the post I was reading a few days ago. Thanks!

Hello Lisa,

You could try the chocolate Zone Bars. Though, as a "chocolate snob" due to my LOVE of chocolate, the chocolate Zone bars taste bad, really funky. It tastes like stale chocolate or something close to it. However, the chocolate raspberry Zone bars are YUMMY! Give these bars a try.

Hi Bridget,

I have zone bars by the TONS. I like them, even the original chocolate but I wanted a chocolate drink. So Iimprovised...not sure if I did it correctly. I made a 1 block smoothie with 1C strawberry,1 scoop Zone Protein Powder, 1/2tsp Natural PB and 1/2 heaping tsp. of coca powder. Not very chocolatey, but still tastes good! I was just unsure of the amount of the coca powder to add so I read the lable and used 1/3 the serving size...just in case.

Hi Lisa,

I'm assuming you mean cocoa powder, corrrect? (aka. cacao; bbut not coca; coca is something else!)

I put a huge heaping tablespoon in a smoothie almost every morning. I use Navitas brand organic.

Hi Sue,

That's correct. I should be more specific. Do you get the brand you mentioned at the health food store? I shop at Nutrition'Smart and Wild Oats for most of my items so I will check to see if they have it. Right now, I have some Hershey's coca and used it last night in a smoothie. I heaping tbsp has 3g C, so I wasnt too concerned about 3g, however, I opted to only use 1/2tsp. Didn't make too much difference in the taste of my drink.

Yes, I get it at Whole Foods. It's located in the supplement section, not the baking aisle. It's probably also in Wild Oats because they were bought out by Whole Foods and now carry the same items. Yes, 1/2 teaspoon probably wouldn't be very noticeable. Don't forget to subtract fiber when checking carb count.
