This question is in regard to fiber content in carbohydrates.

For example the back of a package indicates 16grams of carbohydrates, 10 of which are from fiber, resulting in them labeling it as 6 net carbs.

Could any one explain this to me?

Hi, here's an excerpt from a post I submitted earlier today, in the Weight Loss forum, which explains it:

The reason for subtracting total fiber from total carb on a nutririon label is that US nutrition labels include fiber in the total carb content. For the Zone, we count insulin stimulating carb only. Fiber doesn't stimulate insulin, so we subtract it from the total carb shown for a particular food, to yield the amount of insulin stimulating carb in that particular food.

carbs are made up of fibers and sugars right?
Explain to me the difference between these two products
-both contain 30 grams of carbohydrates
-one contains 1g sugar, and the other contains 30 g sugar

They both contain the same amount of carbs, but should affect insulin levels drastically different bc of the type of carbs... does that have any truth to it?
